Unfortunately I had the same experience as a few of the other people who wrote poor reviews previously. I saw them and was willing to give the benefit of the doubt, so I booked an appointment with Dr. McAnany yesterday and today I got a call from Holly for a pre screening. She was awful, so awful I immediately canceled my appointment, no one has time for that and should be treated that way, even if the doctor were to turn out great. Rudest office staff ever. My rating is exclusively for Holly since I never saw the doctor. My first call to gather more details was more of an interrogation than a pleasurable conversation. I shook it off because I wanted to see this doctor. Heres the best part. I live 1.5 hours away. I left an extra 20 minutes to give additional time. After dealing with numbness and tingling in my leg for a few years I decided enough was enough. I first tried epidural shots with a doctor at HSS which after 3 shots did not help at all. I was referred by this doctor to Steven Mcanany to talk about my options. Dr. Mcanany was a straight shooter and told me that shots aren't going to fix my problem and that the herniated disc in the L4-L5 needed to be stabilized to get it off the nerve. I went to Dr. McAnany after experiencing severe sciatic pain for almost two years. I had previously sought the opinions of multiple orthopedic surgeons, went to months of physical therapy and received three epidural injections. Both he and his Physician’s Assistant Brooke were incredibly knowledgeable and transparent with me in regard to the microdiscectomy procedure I was seeking to have. I have had a 20yr journey spanning 3 states will minimal improvement. When I met Dr McAnany he was able to tell me how I felt and what I was going through without me saying a word. He spent more time with me on my 1st visit than any other doctor. Dr McAnany exceeded all my goals for surgery and completely removed my pain, & gave me mobility back. Boston surgeons are supposed to be the best around in my area but were a waste of time. HSS has the most up to date and comfortable facilities in the northeast. I would not hesitate... read more
