Excellent surgeon! I had a very large hiatal hernia that I had neglected for years! Dr. Siegal used minimal invasive surgery techniques that made the whole procedure and recovery tremendously better than a prior hernia surgery that I had 18 years ago! A big reason for waiting so long to fix this hernia was fear of constant pain again! He also addressed the prior hernia surgery area and cleaned that up and relieved the pain of that area that I had dealt with for 18 years! Dr Siegel is by far one of the best Drs I have had in many years, he is extremely knowledgeable and he took time to make sure that my procedures was fitting, Dr Siegel met personally with the insurance company to explain the treatment I needed and I can never thank him and his staff enough. I wish that I could go to Dr Siegel for everything but since I can’t I will take him as a gastro surgeon any day a million times over. After seeing several doctors who could not understand my medical problems, Dr Siegal took the time to very effectively develop a program to resolve my issues. He is very personable and professional. I highly recommend him!
This is not a review of the doctor, but of his staff. They are abhorrent. After waiting over two hours after my appointed time, I was to be scheduled for a few procedures, only to never receive a call or date. After 6 weeks, I contacted them and at 7 weeks, I received the surgery date. Upon arrival for surgery, I was sent home because they never gave the necessary information to the surgery team and was not told to stop taking a certain medication, which would have caused me issues. As an M.D. with 49 years of practice behind me and over 100 surgical assists, I think I'm a good judge of surgeons. Dr. Steve Siegal is at the top of the class in my opinion. Most important is his surgical expertise. Judging from the excellent result of my hernia surgery and quick recovery, Dr. Siegal did a perfect repair. I'm now 5 weeks post-op and have no restrictions.
