I wouldn't say I have a practice philosophy, and I don't like the term mission, but I do have a clear purpose. A patient of mine once told me she felt 'half-alive'. Now, that's a miserable way to live. Even if you don't feel nearly that bad, poor sleep is a terrible burden. It's not so much to hope for a little relief, and its very rewarding for me when people find I've made their life a little better.
