Save yourself the headache. The warranty process is ineffective. Update - I have warranty items that have been pending for over a month. I submit them in the portal and they are ignored. I’ve had nonstop HVAC issues. I’ve been in my townhome for about a month and the HVAC company has been to my house 7 times. The HVAC system still doesn’t work properly. Stephen Alexander has yet to offer a new unit. The handling of the issue has been abysmal.
In 2022, my partner and I built our first home with Stephen Alexander Homes in Virginia Beach, and the experience exceeded our expectations. While there were some supply chain setbacks due to COVID, the overall process was smooth, well-managed, and transparent. We built through the Spot Build (“Build Where You Want to Live”) program, and the team was truly fantastic. We have loved our home from day one. Couldn’t recommend them enough! We built the Ashland plan!

I built a beautiful custom home with SAH in 2012-2013 in Lago Mar with extensive updates, changes, and trim. At the time, I was told it had the most trim upgrades they'd ever done. There were a lot of issues with build and we had to have many meetings as my husband and I would stop by and see errors (like missing transoms, trim not matching what we were told came "standard" and tiles missing in a bathroom we'd paid to upgrade). SAH were fantastic to work with on our custom new build. Offered great design plans but also willing to adapt to our needs - such as a first floor master. Fair-minded and straightforward when dealing with any setback. Well-managed building process and a genuine pride in workmanship and the final product.
