Would like to update my review as our family continues to enjoy such a gem. Cleanliness and hygiene are always of the highest regard as the chefs and staff clearly practice this in their open kitchen. Absolute best. Have enjoyed Chefs Tatsuya and Yoshi's kaiseki omakase for years. You won't find anything like it in Vancouver. Food is delicious and consistent and the service is always wonderful.
This is truly an amazing Japanese restaurant. We have enjoyed every meal here. High end food at moderate prices. You would be paying 50% more if this restaurant was downtown. Lots of flavour and texture and you can make out the flavour profiles easily. This isn’t the run of the mill Japanese restaurant: it’s complex and satisfying. Update: I have sincere sympathy for the chef's medical condition, but in an open kitchen, allowing an employee with chronic coughing to handle food without a mask is a failure in management. For a restaurant at this price point, expecting customers to eat under these unsanitary conditions is insulting—do not weaponize sympathy to excuse your lack of basic hygiene standards.
