I just picked up my nephew from starguides after a long 9 months. I know it’s only day one of him being home, but he has truly changed. Just seeing the confidence he has in himself after spending 24 hours together is huge. I loved hearing about the values they live and teach to their clients while in treatment. I was sent to Star Guides on 06/05/20, and it was the worst place I’ve ever been to. Until this present day I have not let go of the traumatic experiences I had to go through while being stuck in the middle of the wilderness for 5 months. I’ll never forget how the people here at Star guides manipulated my parents to lie to me about the program and how the people who worked at the program made me do things against my own will and how I was being treated by the staff. Please do not send your children here. I spent seven months in this program and any "progress" I made was short-lived and came at a high price. My education was ruined. My mental health is worse than before, though since this program is only concerned with behavior, I suppose that's to be expected. I have all but lost the ability to show and feel things like love and affection, especially towards my parents. I have struggled to re-adjust to society and wonder if there just isn't a place for me anymore. In summary, the "help"... read more
