Statewide Transfer Ambulance & Rescue, or S.T.A.R., was founded by Sam Peck his wife Linda on April 1st, 1982 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The intent was provide convalescent ambulance transportation for residents of Montgomery County, as no local service existed yet. From its small beginnings, starting with eight crew members and one ambulance, S.T.A.R began to grow.

They are a joke and not a funny one ! I was transferred from one emergency room to another. No choice in who took me. Ambulance staff was good. BUT, their billing department is atrocious and incompetent ! I have insurance, they coded it incorrectly to the insurance. Months of trying to nicely get them to figure this out to no avail. Their service is fine, but billing and answering their phones is remarkably flawed. Nobody answers the phone or returns calls—ever—regarding billing. I've called 20+ times.
