Substandard Optical: Overpriced, Underhanded, Deceitful – I recently went to (Sub)Standard Optical because of a groupon that was offered for their company. The groupon covered $180 good towards frames and lenses. I will give them 1 star for trying to be friendly and for the eye exam going mostly well, but it was all down from there. Confident in services and product – This will be the third time I've purchased from Standard Optical in the Layton Hills Mall. Every time I have been received in a short amount of time, the receptionists have been more than helpful, and transfer of prescriptions to and from the store have gone smoothly. Dr. Purdy has been more than accommodating and was very clear about the procedures he was performing as well as telling me in plain terms what I can expect from my eyes in the future. Standard Optical Violates Utah Optometry Practice Act – I (L.G.Hill) had an eye exam at Standard Optical in April of 2010. They wrote me two prescriptions, one for clear contacts and one for colored contacts. In July 2011 I attempted to order contacts from another supplier and when Standard Optical was contacted they refused to provide my prescription, saying it was expired. Horrible Customer Service – I don't know why I got stuck with this guy but in my experience his integrity is crap I ordered glasses in Dec and I'm still waiting go some place else and do yourself a favor i'm sure other people in there are cool but its worth not going if your giong to get stuck dealing with this guy LAME!!!
Awful Awful Awful – Bad experience all around. I got the wrong prescription twice. Then when I finally get the right one, they order the wrong contacts twice. I would avoid this place at all costs. A manager from another store got involved once and you know what? Just as bad. Luckily I was able to reverse the transaction from visa because standard optical DOES NOT issue refunds, even it they can not get your order right.
Unclear Pricing, Expensive, Unprofessional, Questionable Business Practice – I used to go to Standard Optical, since I had Optiare of Utah insurance by them through my work (I work for the state). Well?..Not anymore. Tell you why?? They do not have clear pricing on anything in their stores. You pick frames or lenses and they look up the price by the color code in their ?secret price book?.
