I have had diabetes for over fifty years with almost no complications. This is because of the diabetic clinic here and at the U of A. It is a disease you have to take seriously, but if you try to be proactive in your management they will help you. If you think you can run on autopilot, they probably won’t waste their time on you.

Every other nurse or doctor I have spoken to through my pregnancy journey has been phenomenal. I have received better care and information through other medical professionals who take the time to look at you as an individual. I live a very clean and active life and couldn't imagine being in a situation where I was struggling with my weight or lifestyle and speaking to someone at this clinic. This was an absolute terrible experience for me. I've never had diabetes before and found that doctors and nurses here are extremely rude and condescending. I asked for an ensure from the fridge in the waiting room, I was already having morning sickness before coming to the appointment. I took a big drink of EXPIRED, CHUNKY ENSURE! the WHOLE fridge was expired. Which led me running to the bathroom. I told the staff and said I had to leave because I was very sick to my stomache.
