Dr. Star is a complete utter maniac, who is terrible at his job. He shouldn't be even be called doctor so I'll refer to him as Star. He has agreements with certain pet shops and assesses the dogs and signs off on their health. Then gets them to promote him. We went because we thought we would save money it's all a scam. My dog so far has had one parasite. Star missed the second parasite. He will not explain anything on the phone and is probably the most flat, awkward, unemotional person. If you ask him any question about you... read more
I took my puppy here last year in the fall of 2014 because the vet is affiliated with the store in Coram I got my puppy from and some of the initial puppy care/shots were discounted. My first impression is that Dr. Star was cold and rigid. I brought in a pudgy 8 week old puppy and he didn't give the pup any affection at all, just man handled him for the examination. I felt like we just another bill especially since I had called to get an approximate cost for the appointment to make sure I had enough money. I was told the... read more
First of all, I ADOPTED my dog and received the same health care plan, so it puts all of these negative reviews in perspective for me. Dr. Star and the staff at St. James Animal Hospital have been nothing but professional and helpful. I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for, and I would rather pay for quality care. Dr. Star gives out his personal cell number for emergencies, who does that??? A very caring doctor, that's who. Thank you St James Animal Hospital for taking care of my furbaby!!!
I first have to say that I ADOPTED my dog and received the same health care plan, so it puts all of these negative reviews in perspective for me. Dr Star and the staff at the St. James Animal Hospital are nothing but professional and helpful. I'm a big believer in you get what you pay for, and I'd rather pay and know that my dog is getting the best possible veterinary care. With that said, I get the doctors personal cell phone number in case I have any emergency at any time of the day. Who does that??? A very caring Doctor, ... read more
by Tara K. on 03/26/2015 I purchased my Weim from a pet store in Coram and they referred me to this Vet obviously because they have some behind the scenes deal. Although I never had a problem with the Dr. or staff, I always thought he was ridiculously over priced. In October I was charged $500 for a well checkup & shots. I started pricing around to find they are 3x more expensive than most offices!!! I was going back because they accepted Care Credit which they no longer do. All I have to show for it is a maxed out credit ca... read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET, MR. STAR!!!!! He is not a qualified Veterinarian and should not be called a doctor. All he likes to do is listen to himself talk, misdiagnose test results and charge you for exams and procedures that cost you a lot of money for no reason. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO ST. JAMES ANIMAL HOSPITAL.

Doctor Star is an awesome vet! I have known him for almost 20 years and trust him implicitly. He is thorough and kind. When my senior dog sadly needed to be put to sleep it was a holiday weekend. Since all of his clients have his home number, I called to let him know I would be going to an emergency hospital since his office was closed. He replied and told me to meet him at the office. He opened his office just for me and my dog so he could say goodbye to her too.
St James Animal Hospital has a 4.3 star rating with 247 reviews.
St James Animal Hospital is open now. It will close at 6:00 p.m.
