Don't give them your phone number when you sign up. They will call you to get up to upgrade constantly. If you don't they are likely to look for a reason to wiggle out of your contract. They revoked the membership of a disabled friend of mine because she swore on the premises. She has a condition that makes these outbursts hard to control but they didn't care. One swear word and you're done. I posted multiple reviews on Yelp but Square 1 keeps paying to have them filtered out. Good luck removing this post, guys.

Square 1 is AMAZING! All of the equipment is new, clean, and just the right combination of free weights and machines. The staff here is the best, very helpful, knowledgeable, and very professional. I have tried a lot of gyms using Groupon, but here is where I stay!

I called them to complain about them putting flyers on my car. I consider it littering on my property and I really hate it. I think company's should be fined for doing it. I called up one of their gyms over the phone, and said to one of their employee's, something like this "stop putting garbage flyers on my car, I don't like it please stop, thanks" and I ended the call. I signed up with Square 1 Fitness a year ago because like most people who have ever been with Gold's Gym - I hate them. I like Square 1 because it is a small gym, it's near my house and the fees are low. BUT, the best part about my experience with Square 1 so far has been working with Josh, my personal trainer there. 2 months ago I was at 18.8% body fat. I have been going to Square 1 for almost a year and I love it. I enjoy walking in the door and everyone that works there knows my name, and everyone is very friendly. The gym is always clean! They offer personal training and I take advantage of that on a regular basis.
