Until the school system brings back a discipline policy for teachers to keep their classroom in control due to violent and disrupting students in the elementary schools , this will only encourage these students there is no consequences other than getting in school suspension to do what they want when they want. This school district is a great example of a wasteful, corrupt agency that has no accountability. There is no concern for the students or staff. It is a blatant racket in desperate need of oversight. It would behoove the members of this community to investigate Springfield Public Schools ineptitude before giving them any more funding. If you have a child with special needs, move or find a private school. This year my son has gone backward academically. They quit doing parent/teacher conferences last year at his "school." There just seems to be a lot of run around and disorganization. There are no advocates for special needs kids and trying to navigate through any of it is extremely frustrating. Sunshine elementary is a joke. They are absolutely horrible when it comes to "troubled kids" behavior or otherwise they do not know how to deal with them. And going to the main school office gets you nowhere. They tell you that your child is the problem. Then take it apon themselves to try to switch your child schools when you are in the middle of moving because they dont want to deal with them anymore.
