I've been through the program twice now 2nd times the charm. The old temporary building in the valley off mission was ideal for someone who is wanting to get clean. The new building on cowley however did not feel welcoming at all. Your 10 min smoke breaks " fresh air breaks" were constantly cut short if staff didn't want to sit outside with you. I’m sharing this from the perspective of someone who spent time inside this program and genuinely cared about the people coming through the doors. Many of the staff truly want to help, but unfortunately the overall culture often prioritizes keeping beds full and numbers high over making sure clients are in the right level of care. I witnessed situations where individuals who were clearly experiencing withdrawal or needed more medical support were kept in settings that weren’t equipped to help them safely.
