OK... I could never figure out the hype. – Jakes is a Portland institution but I am not sure why, maybe because it was established when there wasn't much compation? It always has good solid service and good solid food but that is the problem they are happy with good and therefore never go beyond good. wonderful seafood – We stumbled upon this place quite by accident and were impressed by a very complete menu of fresh seafood that was well prepared and presented. Excellent service by Mike our waiter. We cannot wait to go back.
What service – We waited 20 minutes we wated 20 minuters and nerver evben rterceived water. Not reccomended.
Gotta be one of the best Happy Hour Spots in PDX – Love Jakes for the consistent ly great happy hour. Amazing food for cheap!
Treat myself to a blowout at Jakes every couple years – I love the buzz whenever I go to Jakes. Menus and decor can be emulated, but that certain bit excitement that some places is unique. I always feel like I'm at the top of the world once I walk in. The drinks are made the way they should be, waiters look classy, and the food is outstanding. Plan on a long evening and make some new friends while hanging out in the bars.
A Frustrating Double Date – Aside from being completely ignored, served cold coffee and Ahi Tuna that resembled cheap lunch meat from package, the ambient temperature was nice. I'm serious; I really could not believe how bad the service was. Great place to take the boss! – Drink - Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice with Cuervo Gold. Appetizer: Cajun Popcorn Main Course: It's always a toss-up! You can never go wrong with the Dungeness Crab Leg Saute or the Parmesan Petrole Sole. Jake's is a not to be missed Portland classic.
One of our favorites! – I've been going here for years. Every meal has been beyond tasty. The wine has affordable options if you aren't looking to spend a lot and they come in 8oz pours, too. We love the stuffed salmon and crab/artichoke/mushroom sauté. The truffle cake is to die for and we have it EVERY time! Yes, sometime the service is better than others but it's never been bad. I'm not a fan of the happy hour items and the HH food isn't as good as the regular menu.
Best food EVER!!! – I was so disappointed to read the bad reviews that seem to be popping up here. I live in Eugene but go to Jake's everytime I come to town. The food can be expensive, but totally worth it. Last time we were there my boyfriend got the crab stuffed salmon and said it was the best meal he has EVER had. My coconut mahi mahi was moist and flavorful as were the clams we got as an appetizer. I will continue to go back
