A sad state of affairs – Once my favorite but no more. Somethings need to change and evolve but Jake's.....no way....no how and yet you've become just a shadow of your old self. Your food is at best mediocre....servers still wear their smiles but seem distant or worse yet "Play acting" just to keep that big tip....phony isn't the word...they just seem to be going through the motions when once one felt they actually cared. Wonderful food and reasonably priced for lunch – My husband and I eat hear every time we come to K.C. besides Ruth's Chris this is one of my favorite places to eat and we always come at lunch time, the prices are reasonable and the food is fabulous, I always order the parmesan crusted talapia "costa rica", it is wonderful and my husband loves there fish tacos which are fabulous also, we are going to K.C. this weekend for my birthday and I made it a point that I wanted to eat there 2 times while we are there

Clam Chowder – 5-stars for the clam chowder. I was a bit dissapointed that McCormick and Schmick's did not have the clam chowder on their menu (reallly, a seafood restaraunt without clam chowder!). Luckily this outpost is a few blocks away and serves delecious clam chowder. Also look for the framed letter from about the guy who got his tie cut off - funny stuff.

Always good – Have never run into any problems in this restaurant. Seems to be one of the better ones, no worries here.

Outstanding Happy Hour and More – If you know Stumptown you know about Jakes. The lunches and dinners are still excellent after all these years. Even more so their Happy Hour will make anyone happy, and if your hungry, you're in luck - the HH food is superb and the pricing is a bargain. I have been to Jakes 2-3 times a year for 25+ plus years and it never disappoints. Recently, four of us sat outside and the wait staff was timely and helpful. 100.00 for Food I didn't want to eat. – We have gone here for a few years now and I think the food has gone down hill. 3 years ago my wife and I had a wonderful dinner here and enjoyed everything about the place. Last year we ate here and the food was so-so This year, besides the 30$s a plate, the food was just not very good. I had Bacon wrapped shrimp with grits and I could not even eat all of the 4 jumbo shrimp. Not because it was to much food, only 4 shrimp, but because it was not very good at all!!! The BEST – I have been going to Jakes since I was a child and have great memories. Have done a lot of traveling and have not found a better restaurant. Service is fantastic and the food is excellent. A great value for the food and service

The resturant is nicely decorated but the cost of the food is not worth the price. Our server seemed as if he did not want to be there and it really kind of spoiled our meal. We were not impressed and probably will not go back.

undercooked fish – My catfish was completely raw and they did the classy move of asking if I wanted a new one or just wanted them to recook the old one. If you want tasteless, rubbery fish, I recommend going with the latter.
