Bring Your Appetite! – The waterfront only added to the whole experience. This is a place to go for an evening out, not just dinner. The bar was great for people watching, the appetizers were fast and delicious, and the service was immpecable. We didn't have reservations but they were able to fit us in, even on a Friday night. By the way, the beer-cheese soup is fantastic. The tiered seating made it seem more private without people on both sides, and the brighter lighting was a refreshing change to the dark dim booths where ... read more
it was ok – pricey.. my waiter was rude and absent too much... food was very good.. when i asked for just a regular garden salad with ranch.. the waiter rolled her eyes at me like a snotty literary type would if i told her my favorite author is stephen king.
Delicious Seafood – McCormick's has the best fresh oyster bar in town! Start here and move on to the impeccably prepared seafood menu. I had a holiday party for a work group here and everyone was very impressed with the atmosphere, attentive service, and fabulous dinner menu!
Capitalizing on Location – Portland has some of the best restaurants however Haborside definitely is not one of them. Ambience: It's like sitting in the movie "Goodfellas". The decor is just plain awful and being sat on the top tier, the overhead lights blare in your eyes. The tier system is gaudy and outdated and the only value to it is an unobstructed view to the river. Food: For $20 you can get a rubbery dry overcooked piece of Fiji Ono. I have not sent a dish back in years however, this was unedible. The Chef replied tha... read more
A shadow of its former self – Its unfortunate when beloved local establishments like Spengers fall victim to generic mediocrity and corporate influence. I remember watching the super bowl in the Oyster Bar, which has since been replaced by booths; I remember the uneven cork ceiling in the cocktail lounge; I remember inexpensive chowder and fish sandwiches to-go in the fish market; I remember lobster thermador; I remember a breakfast menu; blah blah blah. McCormick & Schmick changed its once huge menu to one that is smaller a... read more
Great Experience – We saw this restaurant when walking by the Fairmont. Everyone loved their meal, along with the diverse wine list and dessert menu. I had the salmon stuffed with crab, incredible. It doesn't make sense that such a good restaurant would be so empty... perhaps its the location.
Aaah..... – Visiting city for the first time on business. Just looking for place to have good dinner and relax. Recommended by conceirge at hotel. Everything was perfect. Food was delicious. Had seared tuna, crab cakes and roasted corn chowder. All were perfect. Sat at bar. Drinks were cold and quick. Bartender was good to talk to. Service was attentive and above average. Would recommend to anyone visiting San Francisco.
Go for lunch! – We discovered the lunch menu by accident one day when we decided to go there for a mini-celebration. The food is delicious, as always, and the portions are just as large as dinner portions, yet everything is half the price! The best $12 halibut cheeks, $9 tilapia, and $9 chicken marsala I've ever found. Not to mention the gorgeous view of the lake! Highly recommended.
You should give McCormick and Schmick's a try. – I had recently eaten at McCormick and Schmick's in Boston with a party of @ 30. It was excellent. This past weekend however, I was in Philadelphia and while walking in the city, I noticed the Philadelphia location. Dinner for two this time. Restaraunt was near capacity yet they had a table for us right away without a reservation. Nice atmosphere (woodwork/scaled ships, etc.) and good service. Large menu with many fresh catches from the East Coast to the West. Both our meals we... read more
