Ladies dining alone: better to go some place else – Id heard women dining alone feel they receive lesser service than men. I didnt buy that until I wandered into Jakes with my girlfriend. worst experience for the money – A man wearing some sort of white cook's jacket came to my area, started yelling to the waitress, his hands were pointing to my table's direction. The music was loud so I couldnt make out what he said; only words like "...reservations only...". Caesar salad. The romaine lettuce was not even cut. Clam chowder soup. Considering only the food – I arrived at 8:30 on a Sunday evening. The website said that they were open until 10, but I was informed that if they run out of one or more types of fresh fish, they may close early, and they had closed. I made a fuss about it, since I had made a special trip, and they agreed to let me order something to go. Fresh Fish and New Menus Printed Twice a Day – It was interesting to hear that they print their menus twice a day based on their fresh fish delivery 2-times a day. All I can say it that the meal and appetizers were excellent as was the service. A very busy restaurant in an unusualy location. Huh? I can't hear you. – We went for my birthday last month and I felt like we walked into a circus. It was so loud and completely packed. I have never seen so many people in one place. Has the fire marshal checked this place out? We had great service, although I will admit it can be hit or miss. The food was great as usual, but the atmosphere was just way too chaotic. Poor Service – I have been going to Jake's for years and have always had a great meal. However, the last 2 times I have gone, I have received rude servers. Our waiter hit me w/ the plate when he set down an appetizer, and made no effort to apologize. From A Server's Perspective – I really wanted to like this place. I work in the business and am always looking for places that offer quality product, service and good value. Unfortunately none of those attributes are found here. The food was only mediocre, overpriced and the service was definetly substandard. Boring...needs CPR – I have usually enjoyed dining downtown Minneapolis. When you are in a great city, you expect great food and great service. Not going to find either at this place.
