Disappointing – We dined here on September 3, 2006. We made reservations for 7:30 p.m. two weeks in advance. We arrived at 7:20 and checked in. When we still had not been seated by 7:50 we requested that we be seated, and we finally were, only to wait a long time for service. Mixed experience and food – Took the family here on a Saturday night. They gave us one of their semi-private booths; would have been great for business, but not so good for a family outing. Food was generally very good; two non-seafood lovers actually loved their seafood orders. Service was slow; it felt like our waiter had too many tables -- or just kept forgetting us. Still, all in all, this is a nice choice for dinner in downtown Mpls -- we'd return (and have!).

Unlikely date spot – Welcoming atmosphere, great service, delicious food! With a menu that changes twice a day (updated with the fresh fish list at the top), you're guaranteed the freshest fish you can find in Seattle--at a reasonable price! Their cocktail list is amazing, and tells a story about where each drink was born. Get the ice cream for dessert.

Jakes Crawfish is Amazing! – While the service can be kinda slow because the place is always packed, they are always very helpful and the food is wonderful. We have been many times and have NEVER had a bad meal... Jakes is a must try! And some people who are displeased with Jakes are obviously just difficult and could never be pleased with anything!!

Outstanding seafood in the Midwest – My fiance and I recently dined here with my sister and her boyfriend. We had a reservation (I highly recommend getting one) and were seated promptly. Everything was exquisite, and our waiter was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their menu choices. I had the Mako shark steak and my finace had the Halibut; both were outstanding! The Food Made Me Sick – This was the 2nd time I dined at M&S. We were there with 12 people. My sister and I both had the same dish. Later that night we both became violently ill from the food. No one else got sick but us. I was in the bathroom for hours that night. The next day I emailed them to let them know about our illness. I never heard anything back from them. I will probably never go back there. Plus their restrooms were horrible. The bathroom stall doors didnt close and there was never any toliet paper.

Not impressed at all. – Some co-workers and I tried lunch here. The food is way overpriced for what you get. I had the Greek Salad w/Grilled Prawns. For almost $12 I expected lots of olives, cheese and decent size "prawn". What I got was a pile of field greens with 2 tiny pieces of tomato, very little feta cheese, 3 olives and 5 tiny shrimp. Lousy front-desk service, overworked servers, OK food, interesting building – We were on our way back from Berkeley to SF, decided to drop into Spengers for dinner a few weeks ago. It was a Saturday night, no reservations, but the people at the front desk said we could get a table in about 45min. So we moved into the bar just off the entry. JAKE'S FAN NO MORE....STAY AWAY FROM THE PLACE! – Jake's has obviously gotten too big for its britches and the food has went downhill in the past few years. The manager, Lance, is a real a-hole. I made a reservation. 30 minutes past that time, we were finally seated way in back. I was taking my two adult "kids" out for their birthday. My son ordered etouffe.
