Reliable, Cavernous – went for lunch with my significant other and my parents. the decor was safe and reliable - nice with lots of mahogany and only a few subtle marine inspired elements, but cavernous. a little overwhelming large for a personal, not business lunch. also, seemed a little empty for lunch at 1:45. $15-20 entrees for lunch, but huge portions. fresh fish from interesting locales. my sole was a little boring (but sole is a little boring). seafood stirfry off the regular menu was good (HUGE portions). seems like i... read more
At least stop and look at the giant crawfish! – You can't miss it. It is right on top of their front door :). It is a great way to draw people in. However, Jake's is great in other ways too. I have been there a couple times for dinner and drinks. The food is amazing. The calamari is flaky and does not taste fishy at all. I had a pasta dish that was just excellent. The servers are very professional, and the background music helps set the scene for the night. When I went here for drinks, the bartender was friendly and made gre... read more
Great steak and seafood! – Recently had the opportunity to take clients to McCormick & Schmick's. I'm not really one for the power suit/seen and be seen world so I was expecting to be disappointed. In truth we ended up having a very good time. I know it is known for its seafood but we all seemed to be in a steak mood and we all enjoyed our entrees. The meat was cooked perfectly, the service was friendly and quick, and the beers were cold. Overall, a really enjoyable experience.
Surprisingly unimpressive – I was pretty disappointed by the food. Many of my friends love it there and I finally went after 4yrs about hearing how great the food was. Maybe I ordered the wrong dishes, but everything was very bland and dry. I should have gotten a regular lobster, you can't really go wrong with that. Maybe I should have only gone for happy like one of the reviews stated.
Excellent – The clam chowder here is absolute heaven! Actually, this whole place is amazing, I kept coming back over and over the week I was in town, and this place did not let me down. The blue cheese crusted halibut was amazing! Please eat here, it is soooo worth it.
Great Seafood – McCormick and Schmicks has great Seafood flown in everyday. The menu is different daily based on the selection of fish. One classic entree is the Brie and Crab stuffed Salmon which is an excellent choice. In addition to seafood, they also have a happy hour menu with burgers and more for all under $5.00 each. Great place for a date!
old hangout – i used to go to the Pilsner Room for happy hour. well that changed when they removed all my favorite items from the menu like calamari, bruschetta, pizza, etc. beer selection is good although when they have music in there it is WAY too loud, even if you sit outside in the patio.
Unprofessional Staff, Unpleasant experience – My husband and I walked in one night looking for a table and as we waited to get seated, one of the waiters passed me stating "Nice Legs!". I was mortified, and so were other patrons waiting to get seated. Luckily my husband was in the rest room, or the waiter would have found himself on the floor. The hostess was incompetent and even though there were plenty of empty tables, she could not find one that a waiter could tend to. We walked out, and will never come back.
wonderful view, average food – I wanted to love this place! Even though we live in the city we like to wander down to Fisherman's Wharf on occassion to catch a glimpse of our city by the bay through the eyes of a visitor. We decided on lunch at this restaurant and we certainly had a lovely time, the view is great, atmosphere very different than hot Missioin hipster spots we're more accustomed to which was appreciated, but the food was really just okay. Crab cakes were good, but the $17 fish and chips weren't worth the price.... read more
