Bad experiences here lately – I love this place but recently have had bad dining experiences. The waiters are no nonsense and not your usual schmoozer?s. With Jakes historical currency and reputation, they don't have to be. The last time I went though, our waiter looked like a ghost - literally. He was pale and sickly looking. The wine we wanted was not available and the waiter told us to "go back to square one" and walked off. No apology and no recommendation. He disappeared for 10-15 minutes at a time. One of the potatoes ... read more

Don't beleive the press – Unimaginative, benign atmosphere, melancholy service at best. Spend your money elsewhere. The crab cakes were sparse and the fish was good but not $18 good.

Good Seafood and Good Service – Had a great experience! The Mahi Mahi was incredible. Cold Seafood appetizer plate was delicious and had an impressive presentation on our table. I finished my meal off with a huge slice of apple pie. The waiter was friendly, but not intrusive. I will go back soon!

Awesome food and excellent service – Went here for the first time the other day for lunch and was truly impressed. The service was outstanding and the food even better. Definitely plan to come again!

Freshest seafood & excellent customer service – We had our office holiday lunch here and 10 of us enjoyed a delicious meal with excellent, attentive waitstaff service. My family and I returned the following week for Christmas dinner. I had a baked salmon with crab topping that was to-die-for and an apple feta cheese salad (I requested extra cheese and it was excellent). My husband had the grilled steak which I tasted and it melted in my mouth - truly delicious tender steak. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table which f... read more

Beautiful, cozy atmosphere. Our waiter was on the spot with treating us very well and entertaining. The food was top notch and if a fish lover the salmon is recommended. A must go to if looking for a new place that offers fine dining in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.

Outstanding Seafood in Denver if You Can Put Up with the Service – One might think that Denver and fresh seafood in the same sentence would be an oxymoron. However Mc Cormack's in the DTC is excellent. We have eaten there 5 times (and once at Mc Cormack's in LoDo) and the seafood is exceptionally fresh, excellently prepared, and very attractively presented. The price is well worth the quality of the food received - but not the service. On 4 occasions at the DTC store we left feeling the wait staff was condescending and abrup... read more

Spenger's is now "Corporate Owned" – Spenger's is an East Bay landmark. The "original" restaurant was a great value and had the highest quality seafood, even better than "Fisherman's Wharf" in San Francisco. However, the original owners (Spenger family) sold out, and now the place has become a "corporate" restaurant. Our recent visit was pleasant, the service was outstanding. The menu has become a wee bit pricey. We can get a much better deal at "Nick's Lighthouse" on the wharf in SF. That surprised me, because the rent's so... read more

Take your money elsewhere – The atmosphere is basic and boring. Trying to be like a midwest atmosphere interior but done on a limited budget. The service was programmed with no personality. The food was a corporate restaurant experience. Pre-programmed, measured to exact size and weight, plus boring on the flavor. I am writing this because Austin's premier newspaper has a love for this place and not sure why when there are many other great restaurants in Austin.
