Portland Icon, best seafood around – Love Jake's! Fresh seafood and excellent, attentive service. Lobster bisque creamy and rich, yum! The crawfish etoufee is terrific. Fresh fish always well prepared, and the halibut I had was just incredible. Perfectly cooked seafood. Desserts are primo, the chocolate bag is fantastic. A must! The only drawback: tables can be somewhat crowded and noisy, and it's difficult to park nearby. The fantastic food makes it all worth it!
great happy hour – this restaurant is known for their seafood, stick to ordering just that! their happy hour burger is dry, not worth the $1.95 but for the same price you can get fish tacos and salmon cakes among other choices. $4.95 will get you mussels in a garlic and onion broth, which i highly recommend. stay away from the happy hour wines, it really tastes like a $3.50 glass of wine, yuck! i come to the late night happy hour, 9:30-11pm, at least once a month and it's strictly for the food. i guess you'll have to sacrifi... read more
Lovely views, average food. – Being a nyc foodie and first time SF visitor, some local friends suggested I meet them here my first night in town (they lived nearby). It's a large, airy restaurant with lovely views. It struck me as a nice family-style place, especially good for large groups. Overall the food was average - I would not call it gourmet. (The lobster rolls were particularly tasty). The menu is quite varied - something for everyone. While it's not on the level of other, more "fine-dining" places in town (see my re... read more
DREADFUL SERVICE, TIRED DECOR, PASSABLE FOOD – Sep 2007 Dinner for 8. They lost my reservation, and made us stand for 10 minutes. The staff was completely lacking in warmth, and seemed poorly trained. When asked for assistance in selecting an entree, the waitress replied, "I wouldn't know, I don't eat raw fish." The decor is shabby and tired (a la Marie Callendars). The wait for our food seemed interminable. The food was passable, but nothing to write home about. As I was leaving, I learned that McCormick and Schmicks only v... read more
Horrible customer service & dining experience – This is my first time to post an opinion online - but woke up in the early morning hours feeling compelled to warn other diners about our experience at McCormicks & Schmicks on 8/26/07. First we tried to make reservations for 2:30 pm. We were told the earliest there was availability was 3:30 pm. (The restaurant was less than a quarter full at 3:00 pm.) We arrived at 3:00 pm and meet in the bar area - where we waited forever to place and receive our drink orders. At 3:30 pm we w... read more
Avoid at all costs – Horrible first impression as our appetizer (ahi sashimi) was anything but fresh. In fact, it was crawling with some kind of small green "crawlies" (since citysearch censors the "b-word" ;) ). While I might be tempted to put this down as a onetime fluke, even one incident of that magnitude is unacceptable. The crawlies weren't exactly subtle or hidden, so surely someone along the line should have noticed. The waitress was as nice as could be expected about it and the floor manager instantly offered to com... read more
Cold... – While the seating was very prompt our waitress was not. In-fact we saw the bus-girl more than our waitress. When ordered the tuna and marlin both came cold. The waitress seemed stunned that something like that could happen. I figured if she were more prompt our food didnt have to sit and turn cold. When they fixed it they OVER-COOKED the fish (how?). The floor manager comp-ed our dessert which was good and delivered by the bus-girl. Seriously? All in all the location is great and good atmosphere.
Not bad but really not that great. – The food isn't bad but for the cost I'd expect something more. I love seafood and really hoped that going to a restaurant that specializes in seafood it would be amazing. The M & S in downtown Seattle is better, hands down. The inside seating is rather cramped. The 'outside' seating is in the lobby of Lincoln Square so you're eating your food where peope are going up and down the escalader and in/out the building. It's not the same as sitting on the sidewalk. It feels much more out of pla... read more
Worth every penny. Great for couples and families!! Excellent Service!!!! – From the moment we drove up we felt like royalty with free valet service. We were greeted like family and escorted to our table. We had a yummy calamari for appetizer that was brought to our table super quick. The food was fresh and delicious. There were alot of couples having a romantic dinner. My 5 year old spilt water all over the table and I swear they cleaned it up in 60 seconds flat with good humor I might add! They have crayons and coloring pa... read more
