Overpriced, okay food. Tourist trap – Fresh seafood, prepared with less flavor than the menu would suggest and paired with mostly tasteless sides (among other things I am confident my mashed potatoes were instant). The bar has a nice upscale traditional atmosphere but with all the great food in this town I truly don't understand why people rave about the food at this place. Especially for the price.
Great Seafood – We where seated promptly. The seafood was great! Our waitress was pleasant and accomedating. We enjoyed everything. We arrived a few minutes after the kitchen closed and they still allowed us to order.
Yummy, but Snooty with a big S – I visited Jake's last Tuesday. I have visited various McCormicks in the area a number of times. I stood waiting to be attended to while staff stood at the front desk doing their own tasks. I was asked in a snooty manner whether I had a reservation, with very poor eye contact. I had not made a reservation. I did not feel as though I had to mention that I was a preferred member (which allows for seating). We were seated and our hostess was a warm, mature lady, but did not attend to us much. I h... read more
Best of the Best – We ate there for my birthday dinner and the service was slow but the food was great and would defintely like to go back. The bill was a little high but the food was worth it.
Upscale seafood restaurant chain known for its daily changing selection of fresh catches opens its second Houston location in the Houston Pavilions downtown. – Dark woods, polished brass and stained glass, art deco fixtures greet seafood lovers at this sophisticated seafood chain restaurant in the downtown Houston Pavilions. The extensive menu printed twice a day includes seafood flown in daily from all over the globe. Expect an amazing selection of fresh oysters on the half shell from both local and exotic coasts and other ... read more
Disappointing, Very Disappointing – Went here with my lady friend on New Year?s Eve, so I have taken that into consideration. That said, we WERE promptly seated because we had a reservation but service was otherwise abysmally slow. Drinks: Being in the industry, I could tell you their wine was marked up over 400%...ridiculous! My Guinness was also watered down, which I found infuriating. Food: While our Ahi Tuna was passable- definitely nothing special- our very expensive steak was well below standard for a restaurant of thi... read more
Subpar service, sub par food – Went into McCormick's on a friday afternoon around 3pm. Sat in the "lounge" area of the restaurant and surprisingly we weren't the only people in there. About 10-12 people were between tables and the bar. We sit down, were informed of happy hour food specials, and decided to opt for food off of the regular menu. Wanting to get a drink and some late lunch, we were shocked that it took so long to accomplish these small feats. After waiting 10 minutes, we were finally greeted by our server, took o... read more
Not worth it. – I'd like to preface this by saying that I am a former employee of McCormick's. That might make this review more or less valuable to you, but that's your choice. Believe it or not, the food is actually good. The chefs are really talented and do good work (and believe it or not, I was not a chef). The problem is that the service is so bad that it either arrives cold or burnt to a crisp. Why does such good food end up so bad? In my time there I have seen employees fall asleep in a back room, I have seen servers ... read more
Jake's Crawfish is always reliable – Dined at Jake's last night, it is always good. Great service, good food. This review is in response to the Cajun reviewer. How can you review a restaurant if you don't dine there? You might be surprised at the wonderful selection of restaurants in Portland. Give Portland a chance Cajun boy!
