We discussed what work needed to be done and he pointed out items that I had not considered. He looked at the underside while it was parked and gave me a figure of "about" $X. During the pandemic car shortage, we purchased a 2005 Toyota 4Runner. Less than a year later, it failed safety inspection due to several significant issues: rotten rusty frame, exhaust system leaks, a failed engine mount, and brakes.
