My mom lives in the Oaks of Algonquin. Just recently, a new food plan was implemented that requires the residents to pay $400/month for one mandatory meal a day. A MANDATORY meal in independent living. That would be somewhat acceptable if the food met with the dietary restrictions of the residents. Or if the meals made sense. Last night, creamed corn was served as a dessert. Last week, spaghetti and meatballs was served with a side of potatoes and chili as a starter. My mom can’t eat salt or tomatoes. All they care about is money! I moved out of a Spectrum facility two months ago because the food was awful! At 84 yrs old I had to do all of my own cooking. Now they are forcing you to pay for food you can’t eat! To top it off, I moved out in the middle of the month two months ago and have still not received my refund. A may have to contact my attorney.
I have to believe Spectrum doesn't care about the people in their facilities except for collecting their money. My Mom was one of the first to move in 3 years ago in Illinois. Now 3 years later the place is worse than ever. You would think it would improve with time and experience. Because she is 90, I hate to think of moving her again. The KITCHEN is the worst, terrible meals and no one knows how to cook. Wait staff are nice. At 90 she has started to cook for herself again, which is one reason you move and pay all this mone... read more
If I could give a negative rating I would. My Mom has moved into a location in Arizona few months ago and it has not been a pleasant experience. She sold her home to move into someplace she did not need to maintain like a home, nothing that was promised has been provided. Cleaning is not provided even at the extra charge, maintenance is not provided on HVAC, soft water, change out HVAC filters, etc. Now today, there was no help in the dining room as all the help went back to school. The ED is terrible, no help at all except ... read more
I worked at Highpointe in Denver on a part-time basis for approximately 1.5 years. I was there when it opened. It was a beautiful building, but the department heads were crazy. I worked at the front desk. Sheri Darling in the Business Office was my mgr. I witnessed her being drunk on the job. I witnessed her having a screaming fit on the phone and she was using every four letter word. She was pathetic. She showed favoritism to certain people. One guy, Peter, was a part time employee who got drunk every Saturday night. He call... read more
