I attended this massage school with high hopes and a serious commitment to being a dedicated student. From the second or third day, most teaching staff made me feel unwelcome. One instructor warned me condescendingly, “Wait until Liz gets a load of you,” and Liz seemed to hold a negative opinion of me from the start likely because of teacher gossip. Massage is a beautiful profession, and I believe fully in its power to heal. I attended Spectrum Center School of Massage in Lake Stevens and graduated from the program. This school is better suited for students who want to learn the skills needed to work in a massage business, rather than for those who hope to become business owners or managers. My first day of massage school was a hopeful and disappointing day. I’m not sure if I met my student clinic massage teacher on the first or second day, either way I was let down by her response to my humorous demeanor. I worked at Safeway, their floor mats were really old and destroyed my feet. Humor got me through.
