I signed up for Spear over the phone. The lady informed me that it was a 1 year non-recurring membership fee. I agreed and used it for one year. However, after a year, I noticed I was still being charged monthly. I contacted support, and they told me they do not offer non-recurring memberships. All of the memberships are on a yearly basis. I've been taking spear courses for over a decade, including hundreds of hours of online and in person education. While the dental education you receive is ok, the company itself is one giant sales job for their other services as well as misleading billing practices. As I told them today, despite our long relationship I will never step foot in their facility or use their online education ever again.
Posting under an alias. Stay away from this company as far as possible. After cancelling my subscription, I was continued to be charged for numerous months. When I called to request a refund for those months, they said there was nothing they could do. See other similar reviews regarding this same issue. Bad business practices.
DO NOT GET A SPEAR/CDOCS MEMBERSHIP. This is disappointing as the CDOCs courses and faculty have all been great from what I have attended. But, it is impossible to cancel your membership. I have been trying to cancel my membership since April 2025. They increased the monthly price of the membership without notice. I’ve been an active SPEAR member since 2020. It’s the best decision I’ve made toward doing better dentistry. As a new grad I didn’t feel as confident about doing complex treatment plans. But after taking the occlusion and treatment planning courses, I feel much better about presenting more comprehensive treatment plans to my patients. The occlusion course also allows me to understand how to diagnose and properly made oral appliances.
