Pretty disappointing experience at Souvlaki GR Thornbury. I had high hopes but the chicken souvlaki was a letdown, the meat was really dry and overcooked and looked like it had been sitting in a warmer instead of being cut fresh from the spit. The chips were good, but the venue itself didn’t feel very clean overall. Seems like my experience isn’t unlike others judging from the reviews…
I love that they have delicious gluten free wraps here and they're prepared separately. My souvlaki was absolutely delicious although my lamb tasted not so fresh but the overall flavour took over and made it amazing.
Lamb Gyro tough, dry and tasteless. Chicken Gyro - if you can call it that - was even worse, tasted like boiled chicken. How hard is it to make a decent gyro? It's been over 1 year since I've come back here - because the Gyro was pretty ordinary. Went again today - big mistake. Never again.
When I came in my recently my lamb and chicken souvlaki’s all the meat was burnt, the chips were overcooked and brown, they tasted as if the oil hadn’t been changed. On top of that the loukamades tasted like calamari, implying that they don’t filter the oil at all. the OLDER lady who I think is a manager was very dismissive and disrespectful and had a hurry up and leave attitude towards me and my family.
