There has been a feed mill in operation at the same location in southeast Dallas since 1938, when a grinding operation for making hog and cattle feed was built in the community of Pleasant Mound near what is now the intersection of Loop 12 and Scyene Road in Dallas, Texas. The old grinding operation was purchased in 1953 by Elmer and Helen Scott, who upgraded the equipment with a pellet mill and oat huller, enabling the mill to produce a full line of feed.
