Terrible Experience I completely agree with Jay K, if you can afford it, locate a better vet. I took my dwarf hamster in to have her teeth trimmed (a normal procedure for her, because of her misaligned jaw). I've had this done many times before I moved here and never has she returned to me a bloody mess, literally. The doctor cut her tongue while performing the trim, that's never happened. He insisted an anaesthetic wasn't necessary although our previous vets have always used it (to keep her still). He may be okay with dogs ... read more
Very Pleased I brought in my newly bought Parakeet (and his brother) into the clinic after a night terror led to a bloody feather. I was greeted by friendly staff who seemed to genuinely care about my bird. The doctor freely gave me lots of helpful information about how to take care of my birds as well as what to watch out for in the future. My birds loved him too! I bought the bird pellets that the doctor recommended, and I will be returning every few months for trimmings and checkups. I would recommend the Southside Animal... read more
Kitty's happy I have been very happy with this vet. I went through the phone book and called every vet in Lufkin and Nacogdoches. This was the only office that was helpful, everyone else was rude and impatient. I called Southside Animal Clinic numerous times before I decided to take my kitty there, and they happily answered all my questions. In the office, the staff is very professional and polite, and the veterinarian was very informative and appeared to genuinely care about my kitty. The prices are very reasonable and it i... read more
John The reputation around town and my personal experience with this vet clinic is that they are very preachy and truly do try to run over you to get you to buy a lot of their products. I started going to this vet because he would see reptiles. I brought a rescue to him that had a large cyst near its vent. He lanced it and squeezed out all of the liquid. When I picked the snake up, it had a hernia it didn't have before. We were given a dog and I took it to him to take care of its flee problem. When we were about to leave, he... read more
Unsatisfactory I was not impressed with the service at all and felt quite bullied. When we brought our dog in to be spayed, we were forced to purchase medication for fleas that apparently was only good for 24 hours, before the dog was to even be seen by the vet. The cost for the pill was half the price of the spay, and when the dog was returned to us, she still had fleas. Despite our claims, the dog was given her series of shots again.
