I went to the ER for the second time on March 1st around 5pm for kidney stones. I want to give special praise and recognition to Risa at check in for her empathy and kindness during my wait time. Triage took 1 hour (which is fine, it was very busy.) I came in after having seizures and possible spinal fluid leaks from a brain tumor and was denied any help or testing and was told to just find a neurologist. Colin O'Brien was the doctor who rudely dismissed me and discharged me without any concerns.
They seem to profile patients before actually understanding what’s wrong with them. The attitudes were nasty, ignorant, and it felt like racism was completely normalized here. If you are a person of color or Latino, I honestly do not recommend coming to this emergency room. Today was terrible. The least compassionate care I have ever received, during a very stressful and painful situation for me. The physician refused me diagnostic testing, and refused me the ability to speak to another physician after I was told I could. She rushed to discharge me, despite my level of discomfort. Her behavior toward me was so cold that I felt compelled to explain that I simply wanted to get to the bottom of my symptoms. Still, she denied me any diagnostic testing.
