SCAM Alert My mother-in-law had to take Southern Elite Contracting (SEC) to court to recover $4,000 (plus court costs). SEC had taken her payment in the fall of 2022, agreeing to replace water-damaged floors in her home. However, SEC visited the house just once – to collect payment and tell her they would replace the floors in three weeks. They never did. We had renovation done after water damage. It took a year to do what, even with the impact of COVID, should have taken no more than 2 to 3 months (flooring, drywalling, painting, resetting fixtures on one floor).
