$5 fee to cash a check that is drawn from the same bank? I took my check and left. The 2 clerks working weren't friendly at all to boot. My first visit to this bank left a bad taste in my mouth. Would not recommend. Manteo location.

Just visited your branch off of Virginia Beach boulevard in Virginia. I usually go to downtown Norfolk because it’s closer to mean and the staff is wonderful. On this occasion(8/28/18), I was cashing my paycheck when your cashier decided that my signature on the back of the check wasn’t good enough for her and wanted me to sign the check exactly like the signature on my D.L. from over 10 years ago and pretty much accused me of forging my own check and continued to question why I don’t sign things like I did 10 years ago. I am a female African American Disabled Veteran who went to your branch on Kempsville Rd., Chesapeake, VA to cash a check drawn on an account at Southern Bank. I was humiliated by the way the Bank teller and Manager treated me during this transaction. I guess you can call it BANKING WHILE BLACK. If this is how your bank treat African Americans and veterans, then I should let our DAV Chapter know this so we can do business with a bank who is more inclusive.
Phenomenal service and staff! So thankful to be part of a community centered bank!
