None of the reviews on this page are for south texas veterinary ophthalmology. Look closely they are for different services in that building. Ophthalmologists don’t unblock cats or deal with life and death situations (usually). Yellow pages has no idea what review they are posting to what business.

We ended up paying $4,000 for our cat when they couldn't 'help' him with a standard unblocking. They are now asking me for more money. Stay away from this location.

We took our dog into Vrec Animal Hospital expecting our dogs condition to be the first thing they would worry about, but this was not the case... It was money. We had to pay a $300 deposit before they would do anything with our pet. When that money ran out , they wanted more . Sadly, our dog did not make it that night. The question runs through my mind if they weren't so worried about money and more focused on saving him... Would he have made it. Unfortunately, we we will never know. First I realize it is an emergency clinic and will be more pricey than a regular vet. Let me give you a comparison thought. What they did for my cat cost $1500.00. My vet did the same exact thing for $400.00. They will keep your pet alive but if you can make it to a regular vet you want to! Unless you want to pay several months salary to them!
