I recently found out that not all interpreters are certified. It varies depending on state. However, we are well within our rights to request for someone who is certified on specific calls. That information does not have to be disclosed either. A few times I called, I asked if they were certified, they gave me puzzled and judgmental looks. One even said she did not have to answer that. I struggled to use my VP on the TV because it denied when I put my password on it then it told me to dial 611 then I see no response from on screen like “waiting for ASL interpreter” or something then now I can’t use VP because of weird service that kept denying me access to my VP account. Like it thinks I am a fake person (I never lied about my phone number, my address, and my name).
