I can’t believe this isn’t more popular! The SMART TRAIN is an absolute gift to the area. Smooth rides, CLEAN trains; on time and efficient. The line is slowly expanding, and I can’t wait to explore more territory. A blessing to the local economy; I’ve visited places that I otherwise would not be aware of. I hope they keep expanding-this is what Sonoma county needs; this is what California needs!

Best way to go to San Francisco from Marin and Sonoma County. Take the train to Larkspur and then catch the Ferry to SF. Seniors ride for free, but you need to get a senior Clipper card at SMART stores.

I lived in Marin and Sonoma county for 20 years. In 2011 I moved to Switzerland, but I still come home at least once per year. I am a registered overseas voter and I pay attention to what is going in the 2 counties. I am thrilled that the SMART train is finally an option. When I come home I try to ride the train as often as I can to support it and because after 14 years in Switzerland, I have become more accustomed to taking public transportation versus driving a car. This is the business office. They were very helpful with the map, schedules, and paying for passes. To get the senior or youth passes, you need to go here. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. I think it was maybe 5 minutes to complete the process to get a senior pass.
