I've been a customer of Sommerville since before they moved to their Gratiot location. Tom is always fair and gets the job done without any surprises. It can be difficult to get an appointment, so call ahead. You won't find a more trustworthy or reasonable mechanic in the area. Honestly I only worry that this review will just make his services even more in demand.
I have nothing but great things to say about Somerville Auto Repair. Great place to take your vehicle for repairs..Very thorough and upfront with work done and affordable. Highly Recommended especially for older vehicles where places are hard to find.
Don't listen to the bad reviews, I have nothing but good things to say about this place. There was one time I thought I had a problem with them but Tom took care of it right away. I was also having a bad day that day and was just trying to find someone to blame. Pay attention to the sign outside - they are indeed the worst mechanics! Got anew clutch installed here - took 3 days and cost almost a $1000 yet the very next day the clutch gave up again and had to get it towed back here and get it done again!! Asked what the problem was and the supposedly "head" mechanic waffled on about hydraulics, yet it still isn't adjusted right and took it to another shop to get it done properly as did not want to get stuck again. Awesome service!!! Had to have AAA tow my car when brake line snapped today. Had it done in a day and great work and very reasonable. Highly recommend this place!!!
I am a scepticle person when it comes to my cars and auto repair,being a female that has been mislead and had numerous run ins with shifty car repair places and dealerships. I was sick of getting high estimates and unreliable expensive car repairs, then I found somerville auto. I will not take my cars anywhere else. My Mother, Husband and I have been going to this Family owned Mechanic Shop for years. They've ALWAYS done good work. If there is a specific problem they cannot handle, they recommned a reputable company. They never pressure you and are reasonably priced (not like a Dealer).
I have had them do many jobs over the years, and they alway do good work.
