Terrible experience. Paper thin walls. You can’t play music between 6-8:30pm. Creepy staff. Felt unsafe as a non-white person. Will never be back. You’re better off at an Inn.

There is no way this place can call itself a hotel. This place is like a low end hostel, and it looks as though ownership lives on the premises but would rather guests get assistance over the phone or email. The layout of the room is so impractical, and way tinier than in the photos. No desk, chair, and nowhere to set your stuff down other than the floor. We had a great stay at Somerset Hotel! Its an older building, but they have taken care to update the decor and fixtures. Our room was beautiful and clean. It’s in the perfect location to enjoy downtown San Diego and beautiful Balboa Park, an easy walk or cheap uber to most attractions.

We left after one night. It’s criminal to call this a “boutique hotel” - it’s basically a hostel charging boutique hotel prices. Even then, I’ve stayed at private rooms in hostels that were way better than this. The beds are extremely uncomfortable - the mattress was so thin that I could literally grasp the whole thing in my hand. There is 0 insulation in the walls- you can hear people, doors, cars, planes, everything. There’s no staff on the premises and it has a really strange energy.
