being a nurse for 50 years, this has been the worst experience of my life!son spent 5 days waiting in e.r. for a bed in altoona .apparently they transfered him at 3 in the morning and never called me!!
to add to this ,been 4 days ,my son is still in somerset e.r. waiting on a bed in altoona, getting worse every day .he's filling up with fluid so fast. told me to make his arrangements because he is getting worse every day ..now wallet with all his cards and 20$ is missing.
took my 42 year old son 2 days ago for help, unable to walk, blood in urine ,very sick with gaulded abdominalfolds i strugled to get him in car and got there with a sigh of relief.never looked in his mouth but nurse came with a pll for thrush,,they took my word ! it could have been cancer for all they knew.didn't get results of xrays or blood work ,said he didn't meet criteria for admission and sent him home.. i asked how can i get him in the house ,there are six steps ,,answer was sit him on his butt and he cn go up backwar... read more
the worse hospital ever went there friday with extreme back and stomach pain all they did was blood work and said theres nothing wrong with me.pain has gotten worse also and now im puking up blood and everything.my friend that went there was misdiagnosed 4 times she was 29 years old died last month cause of them.
Doctor was ok but 95% of the nursing staff were inconsiderate, emotionless, zombies. We will avoid this location for future procedures.
Somerset hospital and doctors suck! How can you ask a fifteen year old with type one diabetics how much insulin he normally takes for lunch then give him the minimum and over load on his food scale without checking with a parent first??? All idiots!!!! I hate this hospital and this is my third bad experience with them. Unfortunately this is the closest hospital to me. Then the dr says do u want me to give him more insulin... No asshole now he can't have more for two fucking hours!!!
It may have been a wonderful hospital years and years ago but now it is full of disrespectful people who are only there for a paycheck! They do not care about the people that come there for help at all! The ER staff... especially the woman that does the initial check in is so rude! I will never set foot in somerset hospital again! Refuse to go there. Took my son there he was very sick and screaming so loud (only 6months) I got him out of his car seat and took off his snow suit he kept screaming and running a bad fever. Sat in the "triage" room for 45minutes many Dr. and nurses passed but no one came in. I redressed my son and back in his car seat so now it's been over a hour. I walked out and took him to conamaugh.
