Rude, incompetent, apathetic, disrespectful, unprofessional. They take no responsibility for anything from delaying your case and claiming paperwork never received by mail or fax etc, even hand delivered, nor for abruptly disconnecting your call after you've waited 30 minutes to an hour to speak to an actual human being.

It's hard to believe that the phone receptionist everyone complains about still has her job. She is the rudest, nastiest, most condescending asshole ever encountered in an agency. Every single time I call, she argues very rudely about my question and gives the absolute wrong information with the snottiest attitude each and every time. The Social Security in Poughkeepsie is one of the absolute worst organizations to deal with. More than half the time when you call them, you receive a representative on the other line who's rude without reason and visiting the place is just as worse. You think a place that deals with having to SOCIALIZE with people on a daily basis, many of which are disabled, would be far more caring and understanding. :S

Terrible. The receptionist barely helped and the woman I received while getting an evaluation was FAKE. It was painfully obviously that she was just there to do her job, nothing else. The system is messed up when someone can easily get on SSI just for being a fat, lazy fuck yet someone suffering from depression, PTSD and profound social anxiety gets denied. Things need to stop working backwards in America!!!
