I visited specifically for the shrimp and grits after finding it online, and unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. The grits were extremely bland with an odd aftertaste and lacked even basic seasoning. I ended up sending the dish back, and while the server was polite, I was surprised when I was told that grits are supposed to taste that way. Smith House is a hidden gem on Marco. We're full-time residents and dine there often. The food, service and atmosphere is always incredible. One of the most consistently great go-to spots on the island for locals, and family vibe from the staff makes everyone feel at home. We recently held an event there for a retreat of breast cancer patients, and everyone was unbelievably kind and attentive. And as usual, the food and service were phenomenal.
My partner and I recently visited Smith House on Marco Island specifically because they advertised a dedicated vegan menu. Unfortunately, our experience was completely unacceptable and deeply concerning. We ordered from the vegan menu: my partner ordered the Impossible burger, and I ordered a wrap with sesame ginger dressing. When the food arrived, the burger looked suspicious.
