Excellent customer service, fair pricing and a great experience all around. And we had a blast on the lake. Would love to rent from them again.
I rented a canoe for my dad and I to take out for the day while he was visiting. It was a highlight of his trip to the Kootenays. We had a 5/5 star experience with smiling otter and with Dan. The gear was in excellent condition and paddling on Slocan lake was stunning. Pick up of the equipment was easy and Dan was helpful with instructions for launching our boat. Dan was so great to chat to and very knowledgeable about the paddling and overnighting in the area. I highly recommend renting from Smiling Otter Canoe and Kayak.
I would rate 10 out of 5 stars if I could :) My 75ish y.o. dad and I had an amazing 3-day trip on Slocan lake. In preparation for this trip, Daniel provided us with so much information, happy to answer the many questions we had, over phone and email. He is very knowledgable about the area, and shared lots on our shuttle drive to New Denver, where we started the trip. As such, we were well prepared and excited to go! The gear is excellent, too. Cannot say enough good things about Daniel and Smiling Otter. We rented two canoes from them for a 4-day paddle down Slocan. Equipment was in great shape and included all safety gear, suggestions were clear and helpful, shuttling service was easy and on-time. Absolute professional service with a personal and friendly feel. Exactly what you want for this type of trip. During our trip we ran into a bit of a tricky situation due to external factors unrelated to Smiling Otter.
