I was stuck with a contract that a previous owner had been conned into. I sold the house since, paid off all the was owing which was a fortune for the now old equipment that was way overcharged. If I can give no stars I would give it. They installed my heat pump about a 1.5 years ago and today I find out my heat pump is not working and the circuit boards are fried because they tech who installed my heat pump used wrong wiring (12 gauge when it’s supposed be 10) and used the wrong breaker from the panel (should be 25 or 30amp but used a 20amp) which is the existing one from the AC. Avoid! I don't say this lightly but Smartcare completely messed up the government rebate program and refused to admit their mistake. Communication is great up until the work has been done - after that, silence. I know they've done this to other customers as well. In short, Smartcare came to install a heat pump and charged for air sealing as well after explicitly telling me it would be covered by the government rebate program (this is mentioned in the contract). Highly disappointed in the the thermal pump system installed by Smartcare. Advertised as high efficiency and would reduce my costs, Instead my hydro usage bills doubled and gas bill increased by 50%. System runs continuously, won't stop. I've been complaining since install. No one from the company can give me a reason why instead, they want me to pay $250 + tax to get a diagnosis.
