high touch, high science – I transferred all of my prescriptions after a chain pharmacy with whom I had done business for better than a decade couldn't accommodate my immediate need for post-surgical medications. I took the prescriptions out of the hands of the dispensing pharmacy and went to Skendarian's. They filled the Rx's on the spot -with a glass of water. A blessing to cambridge – This is one of the last pharmacies in the area where the pharmacists know their clients and bring their enormous experience to bear on one's health. In my twenty years as customer, I've had more than ten occasions when Skenderian, and not my physician, gave me the best advice. The people behind the counter are friendly and helpful in ways unimaginable at, for example, CVS
Perfunctory at best – Requested the rental of a breast pump for use @ our area hospital. Explained that the $90.00 deposit would be paid via our next check run (within the week). This was not good enough. After having to wait 15 minutes for "Bob" to hang up his phone call, I told him this was for a new patient being admitted within the next several hours and we just wanted to be able to turn to our neighborhood apothocary in this time of need. a little bit behind the times – A few years back I tried to get a cervical cap through this business and they treated me like I was an alien from another planet. I have never gotten such unfriendly service at a pharmacy before or since. To their credit, they ordered a cap for me, once they figured out what it was, and I received it about a month later.
Save Yourself the Headache$$ – I'm sure the atmosphere is charming and retro if that is your only criteria for a pharmacy. Also retro is the chauvinism, and the lack of services we've become accustom to in this day and age of high tech. I rented a wheelchair from here because I was staying with my sister after an injury. She lives in the neighborhood and likes to support local small businesses. On the third day of rental, the front wheel fell off. We screwed it back on and tightened it. No problem. Why go to an impersonal chain? – Skenderian's is a great pharmacy. No hassle, no red-tape. Just good old-fashioned helpful, personalized service. They smile -- don't treat you like you're hassling them! None of this can be said about CVS.
Exceptional Personal Service – Family owned and operated and they all knew my name from the first time I went there. They have save me time, aggravation and possible medical difficulties because of their vigilance. The only thing I would change about Skenderians is their hours.
