In 1870, Zalmon Simmons built his first factory in Kenosa, Wis. With the help of nine employees, Simmons originally manufactured wooden insulators and cheese boxes. Since then, Simmons Bedding Company has expanded as the maker of Beautyrest, BackCare, Olympic Queen, and Deep Sleep mattresses. In 2001, Simmons introduces the first new mattress size in 42 years.
