We found Silver lake motel on the internet,after we made a last minute change in travel plans. It is not the typical chain Marriott or Hilton but we loved our room above the office with two decks. The views were spectacular and the staff was very nice. If you are looking for modern and amentities it is not place,but they did have a nice breakfast for guest. We hope to go back to Ocracoke some day and we would stay at the Silver Lake Motel again
As first time visitors to the silver lake motel and inn, my husband and I were extremely disappointed. Our room was tiny, dark and smelled like it was wet and closed up. One of the receptacles in the room was completely hanging out of the wall with a lamp plugged into it (extreme fire hazard). But to make things worse the visitors in the room beside us had 2 dogs that barked ALL NIGHT Saturday night the slightest noise and they barked and barked. First time staying and loved it! Older motel but a lot of character and very clean. It's has a great view of Silver Lake and walking distance to everything. We will be back!

Got our reservation confirmed for September! Very clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location, close to everything! Great view of Silver Lake! Our third year staying there! So excited, c'mon September!
GREAT Location. Wonderful staff. Easy walk to everything. Clean comfortable suites. This has been our yearly girls week resort for the last 2 years and just scheduled our 2017 visit for year # 3.
