Hosts are very helpful and friendly. Places are old and in need of TLC, but they are clean and nice. If you want the latest convenience go elsewhere, if you want serenity and nature, this is your place
I wanted to love it but it was so expensive and it didn’t feel like a good value. The grounds are gorgeous as is that whole Downieville area. The person who checked us in and out was friendly. The cabin was alright but not for 600+ for two nights. Not a holiday weekend either. With a little tlc this place could be amazing. A lot of the lightbulbs were burnt out, the amenities were non-existent and the towels were so tiny we could barely wrap them and were smaller than average. WOW! Hidden gem - shhhhhh! We stayed in the lodge one night on our way to an extended weekend in Tahoe and will be coming back for an extended stay here. Clean room, simple and comfortable with a Patio view of the river and grounds. The new owners were polite, friendly and helpful - they care about their guests and the grounds. Whatever your weekend entails - know you can fall asleep with the sound of the river to end your day.
We love jeeping in the Sierra Buttes and this is the perfect place to stay. The cabin was beautiful and the sound of the river is amazing. I would recommend Sierra shangrala to anyone. We will be return customers every year.
I just stayed at this gem of a place for two days. Cabin river front. The water is fantastic, and the property is amazing. Quiet and quant place. Diane and her staff were great. Thank you.
