I’m writing this not as a student or a parent, but as a community member who truly appreciates what Sierra Nevada Job Corps is doing. This place is a gold mine for the community. They took local middle school kids and organized a basketball program, giving them the opportunity to compete, stay active, and build real friendships. Went here expecting it to be a school where I won’t have any issues and I can get through to get my certification. I was NOT told about how the living situation was and what I would be put through. They lacked in mental health and will refer to you as a number, not a person. It reminds you of a prison and is not a very safe environment. They make you feel like you’re in prison and like you have done something wrong. Overall, not a very good experience.

I was the quiet popular guy from dorm19. I became a leader in my dorm 4 months in and had a room to myself for a while. It was pretty good I graduatd November of 2009 I didn't want to leave and go back to Los Angeles. I loved it fully. And I worked in records for a bit.
