Obscured Windows Be Careful The obscured impact windows lack Low-E coating, are not energy efficient, and have poor performance ratings. One of mine faces west, and by 4 PM, the surface temperature reaches 112°F—making my bathroom feel like a sauna. I have photos to document it. That said, Schwinco really came through. They replaced one of the large picture windows in my bathroom with a custom-made, high-performance window—at no extra cost to me. Warranty with the windows is a not good. I did a remodel for a customer and recommended their product over a andersen product. Big mistake. Leaking windows caused me to think it was an install error. Spent lots of time and money only to figure out it was a sealant issue in the window itself. The Answer to fix it was spread silicone on the outside. Stick to manufacturers that stand by their product. Fool me once!
I could not be happier with the Shwinco hurricane windows I have in my home. I had my first set of windows installed in June 2024 and was so pleased with them and their quality I immediately placed a 2nd order for additional windows (which completed the entire house). I placed the 2nd order through the same company as I did for the 1st order but this time the contractor took my money and disappeared.
