Shockra Studio - awesome hip hop and dance studio – Before taking classes at Shockra Studio, I often felt shy, uncomfortable, and awkward on the dance floor. I didn't feel that I knew what I was doing, and often I believe what I felt on the inside portrayed on the outside. I stumbled upon Shockra studio while searching for dance lessons online. I took my first hip hop 6 week series course with Jessica about a year ago, and been a member of shockra studio ever since. She really explained the moves and gave a lot of one on one... read more
Love Shockra and love Jessica- She is the best dance teacher! – So I signed up for the Shockra Absolute Beginner Hip Hop classes in October. I had almost no dance experience but really wanted to be able to dance at clubs. I went into it kind of nervous. Jessica made me feel comfortable right from the start and I learned so many new dance moves. She really built on a core set of steps which made learning and building upon those steps so much easier than other dance classes Ive taken. As part of the absolute beginner classes, ... read more
Asolutely in looove with Shockra Studio – I'm taking ballet class with Jessica for about more then one year and I just love it. I got there with no experience at all, I've never been a dancer and I'm not pretending to be a ballerina. She is just amazing, she is making you feel very confortable with somenthing that is not that easy to learn, no judgment at all just a very easy place to be and where you can really enjoy learning a new dance technique no matter you chose ballet, pole or hip hop.
The Best Time Ever!!!! – I loved this place!!!!!!! I had my 26th birthday party at SHOCKra Studio and it was the best! All the dance studios in NYC that I visited were not that big and this studio was one of the more spacious ones that I saw. They had 6 poles and were willing to accommodate up to 20 people ( we would of had to share poles) . However, in the end my party only turned out to be 6 people and it worked out just fine. Everyone had their own pole and we danced the night away to some great music. The staff was the b... read more
best. studio. ever. – I?m taking the 6-week beginner hip-hop class and it?s a blast!! Jessica is hands down one of the best teachers ive ever had - she brings a great energy to every class and makes everyone feel very comfortable. The class sizes are small which is great, and the studio is not intimidating at all. Overall, its been a very positive experience and a lot of fun. I would recommend this class to anyone, male or female. Try it and you?ll be hooked!
Finally, a studio that's a non-threatening environment for adults to dance, get a great workout, and have fun! – After several unsuccessful attempts at a gym membership, I decided I needed to exercise in a way that I knew I would enjoy, instead of feeling like a gerbil on a wheel. I have always loved to dance and had decent training all the way through my teenage years, but I hadn't stepped into a dance studio in 15 years and let's just say I'm pretty out of shape! But I thought, this is New York, right? There must be a mill... read more
A different kind of work out – I attended a pole dancing class with Marlo on a Friday 9/19/08. It was a very interesting experience to say the least. Marlo was very knowledgeable and moved like a real pro. We did a short warm up and then jumped right in to techniques and tricks. She showed us different spins and how to climb. The big draw back was that the class was quite large (about 10) so we did not get a lot of "pole time" I would suggest trying a weekday class for more one on one attention.
Business response:
We're SO glad you enjoyed class! We do offer 90min. semi-private sessions (1 per pole) on Sunday afternoons for $35 (note: this is actually cheaper than other pole studios that range $40-$50 for a session?and you will STILL have to share a pole). Our 2 per pole limit is in comparison to gym pole classes that will accept up to 8 people per pole (I know it seems crazy!). Thanks again! -- Live. Love. Give. -- SHOCKra
Wonderful experience – I attended a pole dancing class with Vicky and I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed. It was thoroughly enjoyable. I went in expecting your standard winding and grinding, but this class included that and so much more. It was a full bodywork out and I could hardly move the next day. Vicky was very patient and she provided excellent one on one attention when needed. I would suggest going during the week so you can experience more time on the pole.
A whole lot of work out for your s e x y – I had a blast during the Pole Dancing class with Vicky. She was so sweet and eager to teach. I must say I am clearly not as limber or "sexual" as I thought I was but she surely had the patience to get me to the peak of my s e x y. My only minor issue is the size of the class so I would recommend going on a weekday when there are less people there. My main surprise with this class was that there was soooo much workout. The next day I was tremendously sore. I definitely will go again.
