We brought our daughter to see Dr. Saxena for an autoimmune condition. Other doctors only prescribed drugs for her disease. Dr. Saxena gave us other tools to use to help reduce her symptoms. The tools included changing her diet and reducing her stress. Our family has been blessed by Dr. Saxena and her staff.
Dr. Saxena has been my Dr. for over 8 years. I started seeing her for debilitating migraines that other doctors tried to treat with medication. The medications didn't help and had horrible side effects. I did a detox with the help of her health coach and found out certain foods were triggers for my migraines. I also did some hormone testing and found out I had estrogen dominance which can also trigger migraines. I believe Dr. Saxena really cares for her patients.
Dr. Saxena is personable, knowledgeable and takes the time to listen each time I have an appointment. I appreciate her diligence to discover the root cause of disease rather than throw the standard band aid on my health. The blood work she requests is extremely thorough giving indicators that break down lipids and she explains with pictures and simple-to-understand language. She has a health coach on staff to help direct nutritionally which is all part of prevention and obtaining good health.
I would not recommend any friends or family to this practice. It was ridiculously expensive to be seen and very pricey to follow the recommended dietary protocol (w/products sold in office), which I suspect most new, adult patients are required to undertake. I thought seeing a functional MD would be best as I agree with the philosophy of finding & treating underlying causes of illness. My medical issues were not helped w/no plan in place to investigate more, so there was no reason to continue.
She takes the time to truly listen to and review one's history and concerns. She was the only physician who provided an alternative to a nebulizer (recommended by 3 pediatricians) to treat my son's chronic cough when he was five. She looked beyond the surface condition to help him by testing for food allergies. We learned these food allergies were causing his cough which had lasted more than 6 months. One week after eliminating the offending foods, his cough disappeared.
